Do you have charisma? Are you a charismatic or a non-charismatic? The fictional characters in Dream State are making a movie about one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood --The Church of Charismatic Consciousness. Attended by countless members of the Hollywood creative community, the CCC was founded on the belief that everyone is born with the fantasy that they can achieve success in show business. Congregants receive spiritual guidance and practical advice on how to attain “charisma,” a state of being which can be measured by the charisma meter.
Who actually founded the church is unclear but it dates back to 1983 and today is guided by several ministers who bring the CCC to select groups in and around Hollywood. The church’s popularity increased substantially with the development of the charisma meter in the early 90’s. The amazing device allows a person to instantly know if they have charisma or how close they are to having it. Only CCC ministers are allowed to own and operate them. The scene in Dream State where Nick measures Lili’s charisma takes dramatic license because in real life he would not have access to a meter.
The CCC teaches that to achieve your goals you must be assumptive, assertive, aggressive, abrasive (when required) and even an asshole if necessary. The best way to find a church near you is to say to an aspiring actor, “I can be an asshole.” Chances are they’ll know what you mean and direct you to the nearest church location. |
